Beijing 310305e: The Hall of Surpreme Harmony

As one enters the Forbidden City via the main gate - The Meridian Gate - one has to pass another grand gate called The Gate of Surpreme Harmony, before coming face-to-face with this imposing building (pic) - The Hall of Surpreme Harmony.
And listen to this: The Gate of Surpreme Harmony is flanked by the Gate of Luminous Virtue and the Gate of Correct Conduct. The other gates in the courtyard are The Gate of Unified Harmony and The Gate of Glorious Harmony, all interconnected with ridge-roofed rooms. Man, I'm getting sick already! And my home only has The Gate of Green Spiky Rusty Metal. :-(
Pic #2 shows the ridges of the roofs of the Hall of Surpreme Harmony. Notice that there are 10 creatures lined up there. The number of such figurines determines the status of the buildings - 10 is indeed the max. The Hall of Surpreme Harmony is the centre of all court activities during the Ming and Qing dynasties, hence top ranking.
